In 2009, Kitchen Reader Debbie and her husband bought a classic 1920s maisonette in Chicago for a short sale from someone who couldn't sell it due to the recent housing crisis. Many items in the kitchen are original to the period, from the round tulip dining table to the turquoise furniture. But this relationship is a relatively new phenomenon.
